Staff Smokes: Super Bowl LVIII

We are ready to celebrate the Super Bowl in style here in Ralphs, and for us that means a favorite comfort stick and a nice drink to pair it with. Come on over this Sunday and join us for a great game, great food, and even greater cigars.

Jackson is smoking the Romeo y Julieta Book of Love cigar, a delightful experience for aficionados seeking a medium-bodied smoke. Its Ecuadorian Habano wrapper envelops a blend of Dominican fillers, offering a balanced profile with hints of chocolate, roasted nuts, and a subtle note of warm spice. The construction is impeccable, delivering a smooth draw and an even burn throughout the smoking session. The Book of Love culminates in a satisfying finish that leaves a lingering impression of elegance and charm. Unfortunately, Jackson will be working for the game, so he’s planning to pair his smoke with a dark roast coffee rather than his usual choice of a complex and flavorful stout.

Also working for the Big Game, Joey plans to light up the Dark Star, a new cigar from Rocky Patel that has emerged as a bold statement in the world of premium cigars. Featuring a dark and oily Honduran Corojo wrapper, this full-bodied cigar boasts a complex flavor profile characterized by notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and black pepper. The Nicaraguan binder and Paraguayan filler tobaccos contribute to its rich and robust character, utilizing the unique blend to attract and tantalize all who smoke it. The construction is firm and consistent, ensuring a slow and even burn that intensifies the experience. With its lingering finish and undeniable depth, the Dark Star captivates the senses and leaves a lasting impression. If he was able to sit on the far side of the counter, Joey would be pouring a double of a Four Roses single barrel bourbon, for a pairing that is in perfect measures peaty, spicy, and rich.

The EP Carrillo Pledge represents a testament to craftsmanship and dedication to excellence. At least, that’s what Caleb thinks- hence his choice for this Sunday. This medium to full-bodied cigar showcases a flawless Connecticut Habano wrapper, complemented by a Ecuadorian binder and a blend of Nicaraguan and fillers. From the first draw, it gives notes of oak, licorice, and black pepper, evolving into a symphony of flavors that captivates the palate. The impeccable construction ensures a smooth and effortless smoking experience, characterized by a perfect draw and a consistent burn. It truly is a pledge to EP Carrillo’s commitment to quality cigars. Caleb is planning on stopping by next door and grabbing a dark espresso stout to pair with the full-strength cigar.

Kelly is going to be smoking the Quesada Oktoberfest Uber, a cigar that pays homage to the rich traditions of Bavarian celebration with its unique blend and robust flavor profile. Encased in a stunning Mexican San Andres wrapper, this medium to full-bodied cigar features a blend of Dominican binder and fillers. The result is a harmonious fusion of flavors, including notes of dark chocolate, salted caramel, and a hint of black pepper spice. The construction is impeccable, boasting a smooth draw and a razor-sharp burn that enhances the overall experience. Whether enjoyed during Oktoberfest festivities or any time of the year, the Uber delivers a memorable smoking experience that resonates with connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike. It is also available as a part of our North Side pack, one of a trio of packs that pays homage to our various Chicago neighborhoods. Kelly will be smoking this cigar alongside a bottle of Goose Island Matilda, a Belgian Style Pale Ale that pairs perfectly with the Oktoberfest’s spice and dry sweetness.

Our fearless leader will be going in-house for her Super Bowl smoke. Maddy is planning on lighting up one of our very own Pineapple Margarita Tequila cigars- a nearly pure Dominican blend from wrapper down to fillers. The subtle spice and softly woodsy notes don’t distract from the real showstopper- the expert infusion of natural tart pineapple and the smoky, spicy sweetness of authentic agave tequila. For complete synergy of smoke and sip, she plans on drinking a tequila pineapple cocktail that tastes like the very infusion we use for every single one of our Pineapple Margarita Tequila cigars.

This Sunday, whether you plan to watch the game with us or on your own, be sure to celebrate in style, with whatever cigar strikes your own fancy. Whether you pair with beer or liquor, coffee or anything else, there is a pairing for you here at Ralph’s Cigars.
